Biography

Hi there,

I was born 14. Feb in Waltrop Germany, already as a boy I turned out to be a huge dreamer. I grew up in the country and spent most of my time playing with animals on our farm. I had no friends, I started very early on to listen to the sounds of nature and the stories they told me. Eventually I had to go to school and we moved into the city.

School was a drag even so I was one of the better students in my class for the first years, but I gradually lost interest listening to someone else all day long and got lost in my own thoughts. Anyway I had other plans for my live. The world out there was calling me at a very early age. I ran away first time when I was 16. Ended up in South of France living at the beach till I fell in love for the first time with a girl who had spend her vacation down there and talked me in to coming back to Germany with her. Life back in school was a shock and the fire kept burning in my chest, we broke up rather quickly since I could not get the hang off being a man yet. I believe girls were an alien species for me at that time, cool to look at but not for me.

I started to work out in the gym spending more and more time preparing me for my next adventure. Meanwhile I read the life story of Klaus Kinski the craziest actor Germany ever had. He was overly eccentric and lived life to the fullest. If it was smoking, drinking, drugs or women or just being bold he was into to it and a lot of it. While I was reading his life story I realized more and more I had a smilier heart beating in my chest and the same desires, on top of it we looked alike. He had long blond hair blue eyes and so on. I was glad I wasn''''t alone with my views and thoughts and since he was so famous he sort of validated it. I do believe he was the one who made it OK for me to start my crazy life that lead me all the way to Hollywood, a long way that would be full of adventures too crazy at times to be even shared with anyone in retrospect....sorry...!

The only thing that saved me from all evil that comes with taking outrageous risks is the fact that I have no interest in drugs or alcohol, consequently from what he might have died from in a way. My drug was life and what cool situation I could get my self in next.

I also discovered working out, I wanted to look like something more then myself or maybe a bit more importuned since I felt so ugly as a child. I felt I wasn''''t blessed like so many with natural good looks, a reason for sure I had such a drive to make a difference. I think I never missed going to the gym: Even today while filming and traveling I have never missed a week in my life.

When I left home again to live in Paris I was so poor I could not afford to join a gym I had two dumbbells filled with water, pumping away in a room that was so small that I almost hit the walls when I did my exercises. Paris was amazing, I entered the world of models and movie stars, singers, dancers and personality''''s, not as one of them but somehow as someone who was sort of adopted by an American modeling agency who had seen me on the street and took me in as one of their family members. Later I scored a job in one of the best hotels of Paris the Nova Park. They had an in house theater slash cabaret and I sneaked out from work whenever I could and watched the performances from the sidelines. More and more it excited me and I knew I had to be up there somehow. A long way it would be.....

Meanwhile Aerobics had swept over Europe, especially Paris. I made a quick decision... I brought the hottest teacher from Paris to Germany and opened a club for women, teaching aerobics. It was a blast for a little while and a huge success. But it wore on me fast, as soon I realized I was in Germany again.

So I sold it after a year of fantastic times and moved to Hawaii. I took a really nice girl with me that I met while in Germany.Even so I loved her very much it taught me a lesson not to involve anybody into my adventures lifestyle since not everybody has that urge to life that way. Hawaii was great but my girlfriend hated it and I took her back home since I had promised her mom to do so if she wants to return. I was so down because it meant leaving paradise to go back to Germany. Not sure what to do I opened another health club... but I knew it would be only a short time later that the world would call me again.

One afternoon I saw Rocky 4 in the movies, that was it; that and a remark of a girl that showed everybody in the gym an article in a magazine about Dolph the bad guy in rocky and what a stud this guy is... I left a week later to Hollywood.

It was the year 86, on my birthday. Arriving in Hollywood was strange, I was like a cowboy that had heard that someone is a fast shooter and I was there to challenge him. I guess it was Dolph; sounds so adolescent to me now. Sorry but I have to laugh if I think about it now but I must admit that was it at the time. It took only a few weeks and we were in the same room together. The guy who everybody in Hollywood thought to be the new upcoming Hollywood star. It was not by luck we were both there, only a few days before I had auditioned to be in his new film He- man. I knew he be there and I wanted to tell him that I am trying out to be in his upcoming film. I was so green behind the ears back then it is almost laughable, but it is what we all were in Hollywood at one time or the other, the ones that try to tell you otherwise are lying for sure to be cool. Anyway Dolph just laughed at me and said I could try out to be his stand in (that is the guy who stands in between the scenes so the camera man has a focus point while the real actor is taking a break.) Dolph did not meant to be mean he just said it as he saw it at that time and showed me right where to go, ...back in line...! So i did. By the way I never even got a role in his film anyway. The rest from there on is almost to much to tell, half of it it nobody would believe anyway.

So I started out like everybody that comes to Hollywood at the bottom. My first film was no Retreat no Surrender a sequel of an Jean Claude Van Damme film, where Jean Claude had a fight with the producers and walked off the set and i walked in...! My first film you never forget it !! Little did I know that this was only a tiny step towards it all...!

Years of struggling followed with crazy jobs to keep me alive, collecting money, dancing, body guarding, and some other crazy stuff to strange to mention. Finally the film hits the theaters, a modest success a sequel without the star from the first, but I was in the game now, the phone rang almost the same day, more films where to come, I became the Bad guy in Hollywood for that genre. My best day ever was when I trained in a gym in Bentwood and a guy comes up to me and says "Man i saw all your films you are great" i said thank you and asked him for his name ,he said he is Ryan o Neil (love story), i almost fell over, Ryan o Neil my child hood hero just told me theses words I was speechless. A few days later I was in Beverly Hills on a party. Shaq came in, saw me sitting in the room and came to me, shook my hand telling me he likes my ass kicking on screen......i was so speechless, could have hugged the guy if he wasn''''t so damn tall. but i somehow felt it then, maybe i did have arrived in Hollywood.....I took that straight to the bank.

Years have gone by and i worked in many films even one with Dolph (i come in peace ...aka Dark Angel...), it is funny that exactly this film gave me a name... even while we were filming this film the lawyer of Arnold and Stallone came by to offer me an exclusive million dollar contract Unfortunately the film was not a success at the box office and the contract was not followed up on. Arnold''''s lawyer was disappointed and had to let me go and told me that it takes a huge box office hit to make big time regardless how good you and your talents are ,so you have to keep at it till you happen to be in a film that does just that... what Bloodsport was for Van Damme and Rocky for Stallone or Terminator for Arnold. So I learned to stick with it even with more confidence having already being so close ones, I told myself a man like Arnold''''s and Stallone''''s Lawyer does not waste his time for nothing and comes down to offer me such a big deal for nothing, and that the film was no box-office is secondary, it was his thoughts and first offer that counts and that kept me going and going...! Years should follow after this... So you become part of Hollywood and Hollywood becomes a part of you, with all there is to it. I hope you have got a little bit of an idea now how I became an actor and what it took to get there, I feel I need to let you know theses things, so you understand what it takes to make it in Hollywood and also to be grateful for fans like yourself that I feel I work for as well.

All the best

Matthias
